Meghan Markle 'can't wait to visit Nigeria', Invictus organiser reveals - as Duchess cheers on the African team



Meghan Markle is reportedly excited about visiting Nigeria, primarily to connect with her Nigerian heritage and potentially visit her family and children. This desire to visit Nigeria emerged after she discovered through a genealogy test that she has Nigerian heritage, specifically being 43% Nigerian.

At the Invictus Games, Prince Harry announced that Meghan would be supporting the African team due to her newfound connection to Nigeria. She was seen interacting with team members and was given the nickname "Amira Ngozi Lolo," which has special meaning - "Amira" referring to a warrior princess from legend, "Ngozi" meaning "blessed," and "Lolo" signifying "royal wife."

She smiled as she hugged the competitor and told her 'You're my Nigerian sister!'


Derek Cobbinah, who helped co-ordinate Nigeria's debut in this year's competition, told Hello! that the Duchess was 'deeply touched' by the nickname and that she is hoping to organise a family trip to the country. 'She said she couldn't wait to visit Nigeria for her mum and the kids,' he revealed.

The Duchess of Sussex was warmly received at the Invictus Games in Dusseldorf, where she made her first appearance at a sports event with Prince Harry. Crowds cheered and applauded her, and she interacted with supporters of the Australian team.

Meghan was dressed casually in J Crew sweater and shorts and Chanel flat pumps, the 42-year-old mother-of-two beamed with delight and waved to the crowd and punched her hands in the air, hugging supporters of the Australian team seated in her row.

Meghan bonded with Australian competitor Laura Reynell and discussed various topics, including Meghan's children in California, who were said to be excited about the Invictus Games but too young to fully understand them.

Prince Harry and Meghan participated in a children's relay race during the event and presented medals to participants, with Queen's "We Are The Champions" playing in the background.

  1. She wants to visit Nigeria "for her Mum and the kids"? Why? Isn't Doria perfectly capable of visiting Nigeria by herself? And not to put too fine a point on it, could've done so LONG ago. And why for her children? One word. PUBLICITY.
